Comments
Aiswin is a good choice for stealth characters or characters that do not want to have many restrictions placed on them. There is very little that angers him, but he is intolerant, giving his followers no allowance for transgressions before he becomes angry. He cannot offer direct divine aid to his followers in areas of bright (magically produced) sunlight.

Comments
Since he does not like sacrifices, Asherath can be a good choice for weak characters (that would not be able to lug corpses to an altar). He can also be a good choice for characters who want bonuses to Str or Int (like Mages). Asherath is not a god to rely upon for help, however. Any request for aid carries a very heavy favor penalty. A typical strategy for an Asherath worshiper is to delay gaining levels. This allows you to defeat creatures of a higher relative CR to gain favor. For example, if you get to class level 3 on the first dungeon level it is more difficult to gain favor with Asherath until later. There is also a great deal of risk in doing this.

Ekliazeh is a good choice for dwarves and dwarven characters may opt to begin the game as an Ekliazeh worshiper regardless of their class. He is also a good choice for any physically-oriented character because of the boost to Con and other combat-related abilities.

Essiah is one of the easier gods and is a good choice for beginning players, but also has some really nice benefits that make her good for experienced players, too. The bonus to Wis is good for any spellcasters. The bonus to Cha is good for any character with a diplomatic focus (especially Bards). Free Action is extremely useful and makes Essiah worth considering for any class.

Comments
Hesani can be a very challenging god due to his pacifistic nature, but he can be a good fit for Bards, Druids, and Priests. Because of his large mana bonus and mana replenishing, he can also be a good choice for a carefully-played mage. Hesani gives aid very casually in contrast with other gods and asking for aid costs a petitioner comparatively very little favor. A Hesani worshiper needs to really develop Diplomacy and Appraise (for the synergy bonus) so he or she will have greater success in Quelling enemies. It is also a good idea to have the Pick Locks and Handle Device skills for the extra XP you get using those skills since you will not be getting as much XP killing foes. Because of this, it is worth considering some levels in Rogue or Bard to gain some of these skills and also some hiding skills. You can also gain an XP bonus for being Lawful.

Comments
Immotian is a very strict god and so is not ideal for new players, but with moderate experience it is not too difficult to stay on his good side. Immotion seems like a good fit for Paladins, but so many of their abilities overlap, Paladins are better off worshiping someone else most of the time. His paladin-like abilities, however, are a very useful bonus to any other class.

Comments
All orc characters have the option of worshiping Khasrach at the start of the game. She is a good choice for fighter-types of characters. You have to be careful about killing experienced orcs and becoming afraid and it can sometimes be difficult to know what things can be sacrificed for favor, but the bonuses are good. Incurring the wrath of Khasrach, however, can mean having a horde of orcs sent against you, or being sent several levels down in the dungeon.

Comments
All elves automatically worship Maeve, even if they also worship another god. Maeve can be a good choice for Enchanters and Bards because of the bonus to Cha, Arcane Will and Perform. She is like the Xom (in Crawl) of Incursion. When she intervenes in a follower's life, the result may be either lavish blessings or terrible fury, regardless of how much of her favor a worshiper possesses. Negative interventions are more likely when she is angry, and positive ones when she is pleased. Elves should try to maintain as much positive favor as possible, therefore, to minimize the bad interventions they receive.

The Multitude is the easiest "god" to maintain favor with. As long as you are ruthless your favor will increase. The abilities they grant are generally not as good as other gods and are certainly not dependable. Sometimes you will get a collection of spells that are really useful to your character and other times you will not. But if you are creating a crazed psychopath and occasionally want to be able to pray for healing then The Multitude is a good choice.

Semirath is a good choice for a beginning player because he is very willing to give aid without much penalty to favor. He is also reasonably easy to keep happy. Xavias is a good choice for characters who focus on Int and Wis. He regularly exercises those attributes in his favored followers, so they increase rapidly. This is useful for all spell-casters and also characters who use Zen Defense or Zen Archery (like Monks and Rangers). The Use Magic and Decipher Script skills can also help a non-magical character be able to utilize scrolls and wands. He is pretty easy to keep in favor with as long as you are careful with area-effect attacks that may destroy magical items and if you do not break open chests.

Xel is happy as long as blood is flowing. Xel is a good choice for players who do not want a god that watches over their shoulders. It can be tricky to lure potential sacrifices onto the altar until you learn the Hallow spell, but it is not so bad after that.
It should be noted that Xel will accept monsters you summon as sacrifices, which can lead to very easy favor gain.

Zurvash is a good choice for combat-focused characters. He is not good for spell casters because you never know when he will make you berserk and your character will not be able to cast spells. His Greater Magic Fang ability is a good fit for lizardfolk and kobolds.
